We usually talk about the Big Three: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. The fans have nothing against it, considering that the three of them achieved the greatest success in this sport. It is hard to imagine that someone can be as superior as the three of them.
Others often add famous names to the big three, such as Andy Murray. However, such 'additions' mostly cause furious reactions from the public, so most avoid adding anyone at all.
Murray was a great tennis player who had the potential to do even greater things, but injuries prevented him from winning more than three Grand Slams.
Stan Wawrinka reacts
Stan Wawrinka, a famous Swiss tennis player, commented on the fact that some people add him to the top three, but he believes that he cannot even be compared to the British tennis player, who was number one for weeks. Wawrinka believes that Murray was a class above him.
"I am ashamed when someone dares to compare me and Murray just because we both won three Grand Slams. He was number one for weeks, won many Masters titles, and spent years among the best-ranked tennis players in the world. Comparing me and him is disrespectful to Andy," said Wawrinka.
The Swiss ace won three Grand Slam titles at three different tournaments: the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the US Open. He took two in the final against Novak Djokovic, while once he was better than Rafael Nadal. He won a total of 16 titles in his career, and his best rating was third place.
Fans remember his performances with nostalgia. The Swiss player did have a stellar career where he looked unstoppable, but playing in the era of the Big Three means you have an almost impossible chance of becoming world number one. The Swiss can be delighted with his career, there is no doubt about that.
