Fans are impatiently following the events on the UFC scene in 2025. The big wish of UFC fans is a match between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, but will that match really happen? Dana White promised at the end of 2024 that this match will happen, stressing that they have to pay Jones the huge amount of money he is asking for.
No one doubts that the match would cause a sensation among the public, considering that fans have been calling for this fight for a long time through social media. Alex Pereira, a well-known name in the sport, believes he is a better option for Jon Jones than Aspinall:
"I am the champion and I want to fight against the champion. Let's arrange that fight with Jon Jones. Before Jones' last fight, we actually talked about that fight. More casual than anything serious. He's not my friend or someone I talk to often, but he's someone I respect. I know he also respects me,'' said Pereira, guesting on Ariel Helwani's show.
"I think Jon wants to fight me for the momentum and the risk. It's a big risk to fight Aspinall. There's nothing to gain from him, it's just a title fight. But fighting me is a bigger achievement. It's a bigger fight. We saw it with Miocic. Impressive fight and impressive win," he added.
What can we expect?
It's hard to agree that Jones has nothing on Aspinall, while at the same time claiming that he has on Pereira. Also, a heavyweight title defense can't possibly be called ' 'a simple title fight'' given the importance of the fight, but it is clear that Pereira also wants a bigger fight for himself. The question is whether he will get it.
The 37-year-old Brazilian is known as someone who knows how to provoke, wanting to get reactions. We will see if it will be the same this time .
