The Parisians qualified for the semi-finals of the Club World Cup with a 2:0 victory over Bayern. The goals were scored by Doue and Dembele, and even though they were down two players during the match, the European champions managed to withstand the attacks of the German team and ensure passage to the next stage of the competition.
However, this important match took a dark tone at the end of the first half, when a serious injury occurred to young German player Jamal Musiala.
A terrible moment and a serious injury
In the third minute of stoppage time in the first half, PSG goalkeeper Donnarumma picked up the ball in front of Musiala, but it fell on him. Musiala immediately showed signs of severe pain and had to leave the field, while the Italian goalkeeper cried because of everything that happened. Referee Taylor immediately signaled the end of the first half, and silence and concern reigned in the stadium as it was clear that the injury was serious.
The day after, the dark forebodings came true. According to a report by the renowned German newspaper Bild, Musiala has fractured his left fibula and injured several ligaments. This means that the talented 22-year-old will probably be out for 4 to 5 months, which is a huge loss for Bayern. The young player is already one of the leaders in his team, with impressive statistics of 21 goals and 8 assists last season.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany did not hide his disappointment and anger after the match:
"I have rarely been so angry at half-time, not at my players, I know there are much more important things in life, but for these guys this is their life. Someone like Jamal lives for this. He just came back from a problem and now this is happening. You feel helpless. My blood is still boiling, not because of the result, it's football. But because it happened to someone who enjoys the game so much."
The question is when the German national team player will return to the field, but the situation seems really awful. Musliala was the key to the team in previous seasons, and his absence will certainly have consequences.
