An unusual and somewhat unbelievable incident happened on July 4 at around 2:30 p.m. on the part of the Silverstone track that was dedicated to the exhibition of historic cars from Formula 1. While many visitors enjoyed the sight of old racing legends, one man decided to do something completely different.

According to the information that is available, a person dressed in a T-shirt with the McLaren logo entered the exhibition area and - without much hesitation - removed the steering wheel from one of the cars on display. It is believed to be a Leyton House model, which was part of a special program during the British Grand Prix weekend.

The cameras captured the moment of the theft

Security cameras at the scene were able to capture the moment when the suspect grabbed the steering wheel and simply left the area with the stolen item in his hands. Although the video is not the clearest, the police have released a photo from the video in the hope that someone from the public will help with the identification.

"Northamptonshire Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to following the theft of a steering wheel from a classic F1 car," it said in a statement.

"The incident happened at around 14:30 on Friday, July 4, when the steering wheel was removed from a vehicle that was on display in the area of historic F1 cars at Silverstone, as part of the British Grand Prix."

The police asked anyone who recognizes the person in the picture to contact them on the number 101, with the mandatory reference to the incident number 25000390674.

This theft shocked both organizers and sports fans. Steering wheels from classic F1 cars are extremely valuable - not only because of their price but also because of the historical significance they carry. The organizers have announced increased security measures for the coming years.

This will greatly affect the vigilance of the organizers in the future.

There is no doubt that the police will soon establish the identity of the person and react adequately in accordance with the law.

There are more and more people who try to get to valuable things in various ways, but this is an absolutely wrong way, which can lead to serious consequences.
