Oleksandr Usyk in the spotlight, just like always!

The WBO recently issued an order that has thrown Oleksandr Usyk's plans into disarray, requiring him to fight mandatory challenger Joseph Parker. Usyk, who currently holds the WBO, WBA and WBC heavyweight world titles, has always stated his goal of becoming the absolute champion. That means he would have to retain all three titles and fight for the fourth, the one held by Daniel Dubois, the IBF champion.

The Ukrainian winner has already fought Dubois, defeating him in August 2023. Many believe he will do it again given his impressive career, where he has repeatedly defeated big names such as Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. However, Dubois is in great form, as he proved by knocking out Joshua and celebrating against Filip Hrgović. Although he withdrew from the Parker fight due to illness, Dubois is planning a comeback and it is clear that he wants to fight Usyk. Daniel is a great fighter, we have seen that for ourselves.

Usyk talks about his goals

Usyk told the media that he would like to focus on the title unification fight with Dubois.

"The WBO told us I have to defend this title, but our main goal is the fight against Dubois," Usyk said, stressing that unifying all the belts is more important to him than fulfilling his commitment to Parker.

Now it is up to the WBO and Parker to decide whether they will allow the postponement of the fight and wait for the Usyk-Dubois fight or insist that Usyk fulfill his obligation to them. This situation is creating some tension in the boxing world, as it could affect who headlines the main fights in the coming months.

It will be interesting to see in which direction the future of boxing will go, with special attention to the Ukrainian fighter who really amazes the public. It is not known what exactly will happen in this case, but Usyk is motivated to do great things, just like before.
