After numerous mocks appeared last week, the story of Mathys Tel's transfer to Tottenham took a dramatic turn, and the transfer was finally confirmed. Although at first it seemed that Tel could end up in other clubs in London or even in Manchester, the persistence of Danijel Levi and his team resulted in the arrival of the 19-year-old forward in the ranks of Spurs. Now, after all the details have been agreed, the young Frenchman is arriving on a "dry" loan, and with a buyout clause for 55 million euros, Tottenham has practically secured one of the most promising young attackers on the market.

Potential for a big transfer

Tottenham will pay Bayern 5 million euros for the loan, and if a buyout happens, the entire transfer could amount to 60 million euros. This transfer could become the third most expensive in the club's history, right behind Dominic Solanke and Tanguy Ndombele. Considering the circumstances, this could be the biggest sale in the history of Bayern, if you consider that last year they sold Matthijs de Ligt for 45 million euros.

Although he had limited opportunities in Bayern during 2022, where he was in the shadow of Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane, Mathys Tel still managed to record solid numbers: 10 goals and 6 assists in 1342 minutes of play.

His desire for constant playing time was key to his transfer, because in Bayern he was more of a "reserve" player, while now in Tottenham he is guaranteed to be a starter, which is something he wanted for a long time. In the ranks of Spurs, Tel will play in his natural position of striker, and it is already clear that he will have a significant role in the future of the club.

In addition to Tel, Tottenham brought in several other important reinforcements this January. This ambitious transfer plan can put Tottenham in a position to seriously compete for the biggest trophies in the future. It will be interesting to follow the progress of the London team.
