While Tom Brady has retired from the NFL, his dedication to health continues. The impressive quarterback with a long legacy still sets personal records in the gym, proving that his competitive nature is not just for football fields.

In a recent episode of his YouTube vlog, "Last Week," Brady showcased another milestone he checked off from his workout to-do list: a max bench press. Brady was risking it, attempting to one-up himself and hit an all-time record.

Brady last tried a "max bench," in his words, "Probably like ’05, ’06 or so with [New England Patriots teammate] Matt Cassel."Just grinding out to see how I could lift more to be the bigger meat stick." He had only ever benched 225 "for like eight or nine" reps.

"I always feel like if you could do body weight 8-10 times. That’s a great goal." Brady, however, was very eager to do better than last time. Joining him in the gym was his business partner, Ben Rawitz, who laid out a path for how these switches could propel him to this new personal best.

Brady started at 155 pounds and worked his way up to 185, then 205, before getting under a full bar loaded with approximately two plates per side. As Brady approached the bar, you could feel the tension coming from him.

Brady Defies Odds Again

Brady had to reach down and grab the left side of the bar himself, but even on his first try, it looked like Brady might fail.

"It was coming down," Rawitz conceded. Brady, however, was not to be outdone. He tried it again and completed the lift, putting the bar back on the rack unassisted. "I'll take it. Let’s go!" screamed Brady, happy with his score.

After all, the man is 47 years old. The video also featured him throwing fades to receivers, showing how he still has the skills that made him a football legend. Brady is ready to enter his new career as an analyst with Fox when the NFL season begins.

His vlog detailed the painstaking prep work he did with literal binders of notes and plays from when he was playing that supposedly served as his cheat sheets. As far as retirement is concerned, Brady has some experience keeping busy in his post-NFL life with multiple business dealings and a strict fitness regimen. These keep him fit, and more importantly, they ensure that he is mentally ready for the task at hand.
