Jannik Sinner’s case has caused chaos in the tennis world, especially after the Italian was cleared of the charges. The young player has been under immense pressure in recent weeks, fully aware of how damaging the investigation could be for his career. Ultimately, Sinner managed to achieve his goal.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that the Italian tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol in March. Despite this, he has not been suspended.

Sinner has faced consequences in the form of a financial fine and loss of ranking points, but he is still allowed to compete, which has angered the public and some players who feel this decision reflects double standards. Many of his peers have reacted, believing that some individuals are receiving different treatment than others. Some have raised questions about whether the final decision was influenced by the fact that Sinner is the world’s top-ranked player.

A lot of tennis stars weighed in on the situation, including great Serb, Novak Djokovic, and the latest to comment is Roger Federer. One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Roger stresses that Sinner should have been allowed to continue competing and participate in the US Open.

The Swiss star and tennis legend shared his thoughts on the matter. He points out that such cases are the last thing tennis fans and others want to see. However, there was a mistake on Sinner’s team’s part, which meant he had to face some consequences. Nonetheless, Sinner can be relieved that things ultimately ended well for him.

“This is not something we want to see in our sport; such news, whether he did something wrong or not. Or anyone else,” Federer said.

“It’s all noise we don’t need and don’t want.”

The Swiss tennis player believes that such situations are a nightmare for any athlete. To have a brilliant career and be on the path to even greater success, only to face such accusations, is the last thing anyone wants. Federer emphasizes that a tennis career is challenging and comes with many unpleasant and difficult moments. It is crucial to remain mentally strong despite everything and to withstand the pressure and expectations of fans.

“I understand this is an awkward situation, a nightmare for any athlete to face such accusations and problems because we fill out various forms on this topic almost daily. Everything that happens, you carry with you. Every morning when you wake up, you think about whether someone will knock on your door to test you. It’s very difficult.”- he continued.

Since the controversy emerged, Sinner has won Miami and Cincinnati. He claims that the contamination resulted from his physiotherapist applying a spray containing the banned substance on his skin, which was then transferred to him. Despite the small amount involved, critics have called for severe punishment for the Italian, which has not materialized.

Roger Federer: He shouldn’t be here

Federer also shares the view that the governing tennis bodies should know how to handle such situations and conduct investigations properly. The Swiss tennis player has never been someone who sought to use banned substances; he has always been an example of sportsmanship in the game.

“I understand the frustration and the thought of whether he has been treated the same as others. I believe it comes down to that. We all think that Jannik did nothing wrong, but he shouldn’t be here until all the facts are 100 percent clear, which raises questions that we need answers to. We must trust the process and everyone involved in it.”

In the US Open, the surprising early exits of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have surprised a lot of tennis fans. With most of the major competitors eliminated early, Jannik Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals and is now a leading favorite to win the last Grand Slam of the season.

Jannik Sinner is clearly a strong favorite for the US Open title, especially given the early exits of his major rivals. However, he is keen not to underestimate his opponents or be labeled too early as the top contender. Sinner stresses the unique opportunity this presents, recognizing that the path to victory has opened up with the unexpected exit of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

The Italian player is particularly motivated to achieve success, especially after the recent doping controversy where he was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing. He is even more motivated now and makes the most of this golden opportunity. Sinner remains focused and driven.

It will be interesting to follow his journey in this tournament as well as in the events that will follow.
