Oleksandr Usyk, who recently defeated Tyson Fury, is planning to finish his professional boxing career with two more fights, one of which could be a title unification fight against Daniel Dubois. Although Usyk has clear goals in the boxing ring, a statement from his team suggests he could be looking for a new challenge after his boxing career ends.
Over the years, he has been mentioned in various contexts and combinations, but the Ukrainian fighter has so far firmly followed his path, having no intention or desire to deviate from such a path.
In an interview, Sergey Lapin, a member of Usyk’s management team, revealed that Usyk is considering a fight against popular YouTuber and MMA fighter Jake Paul. However, there is a specific condition that would have to be met: the fight would have to take place exclusively under MMA rules.
Lapin stressed that Usyk has been investing in his boxing career for years and wants to leave a big mark on the sport, but once he secures his place among the greatest boxers of all time, there could be a new opportunities.
MMA cage
“For Usyk, stepping into the MMA cage could be interesting, but only if there’s good money to be made and the fight would be under MMA rules,” Lapin said.
He continued, pointing out that it is never out of the question that Usyk will find himself in the cage against a dangerous fighter like Alex Pereira in the future, with the possibility of working with UFC boss Dan White.
The Ukrainian fighter clearly has serious ambitions for the future, although there is still a lot of unknown. An experienced fighter could try his hand in the UFC ring, but the question is whether he would be as dominant there as in the boxing ring. Difficult, really. However, the Ukrainian is ready to change a lot of things, all with the aim of making money.
