Greek portals do not stop writing about how one of the greatest athletes in history could soon officially become a resident of their country. Namely, media from southern Europe have been reporting for days that Novak Djokovic will soon live in Athens. According to the website Glow.gr, the Serbian tennis player has received a "golden visa", which would mean that he is seriously preparing for the move.

"His decision did not come just like that, but is a consequence of his connection with Greece, which has been strengthened over the years," their text states, emphasizing that the famous tennis player and his wife Jelena have been to Mykonos, Crete, and Mount Athos many times, where Mount Athos is located - a place that has a deep spiritual meaning for him.

Greek government

Since 2024, the 37-year-old athlete has been in contact with the Greek government in order to implement this change. Now that the administrative part is complete, the first steps have already been agreed. His wife and children, Tara and Stefan, will be the first to move to the Greek capital, while the former number one in tennis will join the family after the US Open is over, in September.

While guesting on the show "Champion failure", he pointed out that his goal is to slow down the pace and devote himself more to what is really important to him:

"I want to devote more time to my family and to cultivate the role of a mentor to young athletes."

According to the media, he recently held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, where they discussed the foundation he manages, possible investments and the promotion of sports through various initiatives.

Although he is the owner of as many as 24 Grand Slam titles and his fortune exceeds 700 million dollars, the legend of white sports seems to want to find peace:

"With 24 Grand Slam titles, more than any other tennis player, Novak pushed the boundaries of tennis. In addition to all possible achievements, mental strength, discipline and dedication to physical and mental preparation, he became not only a tennis legend, but also one of the greatest sportsmen in history. With a fortune estimated at over 700,000,000 dollars, Djokovic still wants to turn to a peaceful and fulfilling life. His arrival in Athens is not only a change of residence, but also the beginning of creating a new identity," concludes Glow.gr.
