After firing Daniel Jones, the New York Giants finally brought in a quarterback. It's Jameis Winston. They knew that they had to make concrete moves and lead the team in the right direction, and the fans believe that this move is a confirmation of the club's ambitions in the future.
The man who was selected as the first pick in the 2015 draft has signed with the fourth NFL franchise of his career. He signed a two-year contract worth eight million dollars with the Giants.
He joined Tommy DeVito, who in the two seasons since he has been in the league, has played 12 games for the Giants, including eight as a starter. And in those eight games, he recorded three victories.
So it seems that Winston, who was the starter in all three previous franchises, still has the advantage in this matchup. Admittedly, he was a reserve. Quite simply, the 31-year-old quarterback has had an up-and-down 10-year NFL career.
However, we don't need to talk much about his qualities, considering that he has shown many times so far that he really is a player who can turn the tide of the game. Inconsistency can be a problem, but the club hopes that Winston will excel again.
Records
As a starter, he has a record of 36-51, and the 2019 season is memorable in which he threw a personal record of 33 touchdowns, as well as 30 interceptions and became the only player in league history with a 30-30 season. Admittedly, in that season, his last with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who drafted him, he passed for 5,109 yards.
Whether this is the Giants' final quarterback lineup for the 2025 season remains to be seen. Somehow it seems, considering the salary, the team from the Big Apple expects a stronger name to rush. Like Aaron Rodgers. If it stays this way, Winston will likely be a transition quarterback.
We'll see what the ambitions and ideas of the leaders of this team are, and whether they have hope in this player. It's really hard to give a real answer to what awaits us in the coming period.
