The new UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili isn’t very enthusiastic about locking horns with Umar Nurmagomedov – solely because Dvalishvili feels Umar had an ‘easy’ way to the top and is yet to be tested by the best of the best.

The name that comes to Dvalishvili’s mind when he hears 'title defense' is Deiveson Figueiredo. Regardless of his personal preferences, Dvalishvili wants everyone to know that he’s ready to fight anyone the UFC matches him up with.

Umar Nurmagomedov on fighting Deiveson Figueiredo

In a recent conversation with Daniel Cormier, Umar Nurmagomedov explained why he prefers fighting Deiveson Figueiredo over Umar Nurmagomedov.

“Yeah, because he’s a more value guy, I think,” Dvalishvili said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “He’s a more dangerous guy. It excites me more. But I fight the best of the best. I fought Jose Aldo, Petr Yan, Henry Cejudo, and even other guys, the top guys.

You think I’m scared or choose my opponent? No”.

Merab Dvalishvili makes it crystal clear he is NOT INTERESTED in selling a fight with Umar Nurmagomedov next, and calls for his first title defense to be against former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo.
