The Canadian Grand Prix brought a lot of excitement, but also an awkward moment for the McLaren team. Namely, there was contact between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, which should not have happened; especially since they are drivers of the same team.

During the race, the two fought side by side. Everything seemed fair, but then the British driver tried to threaten his teammate on the left. At that moment, he misjudged the distance to the wall, hit it and hooked the rear wheel of Piastri's car. For him it meant the end of the race.

Fortunately, the Australian had better luck and managed to finish fourth, taking advantage of the safety car that came out on the track.

Fans and the public immediately expected the reaction of Team boss Andrea Stella, somewhat frustrated by this situation. Although such situations are common on the F1 scene, they always cause controversy and strong reactions. Andrea did not remain deaf to everything, and decided to share his opinion regarding the controversial situation.

Team boss Andrea Stella reacted immediately and announced that the incident would be seriously analyzed:

"We never want to see a McLaren in an accident and we definitely don't want to see two McLarens crash into each other," he told Sky F1.

“It’s a very clear principle. The contact was due to a misjudgment. Lando simply misjudged the distance and there was no bad intention.”

Stella reacts

Stella stressed that Norris immediately admitted his mistake and showed character:

“He took responsibility, which is important. But we will definitely talk about this. Our principles are known and our drivers will certainly learn something from this.”

Norris himself made no excuses:

“Nobody is to blame but me, so I apologize to the whole team and to Oscar as well for trying something that was probably too stupid. This was simply stupid on my part.”

The leaders of this team will certainly think carefully about everything and make the right decision.
