If one day all the veterans of freestyle wrestling were to gather and ask them to tell where they all performed at the beginning of their careers, many incredible and strange stories would certainly be gathered. So much so that a special book could be compiled from it, which would probably be both humorous and shocking.

Nowadays, there are a lot of big martial arts organizations that offer good conditions for competitors, but there are still events and promotions that are difficult to take seriously. Ten or twenty years ago, things were even worse. One social media user X asked people in the MMA community to write down the weirdest and most nonsensical place they've fought or watched a fight.

Matt Brown and the fight in the parking lot: I once fought in a gas station parking lot

The famous Matt Brown, a man known to fans by the nickname "Immortal", also spoke out in that discussion. He is a former MMA fighter who fought as many as 43 fights during his career, and emerged victorious 24 times. He had as many as 30 appearances in the UFC, and with 13 knockouts, he is right behind Derrick Lewis on the list of the deadliest fighters in the history of that organization.

Although today people know him for big fights and spectacles, he also once performed in conditions that look more like a skit than a real sporting event.

"I once fought in a gas station parking lot in the middle of nowhere (New Lexington, Ohio). It was so bad that the commission said we couldn't fight, but we did the match anyway. I hit my opponent with a 'soccer kick' because he racially abused me during the fight," the veteran fighter wrote on X.

His story became an instant hit among comments and retweets. Many other fans and former fighters also shared their experiences, but a good portion of the audience agreed that Brown's testimony was one of the most memorable to read.
