The problems that stopped the young superstar of the San Antonio Spurs in February are now behind him. Victor Wembanyama, one of the most talented players the NBA has seen in recent years, confirmed that the medical team has given him the green light to return to training and playing.
Fans were impatient for a long time, wondering about the health of the great basketball player. However, now there is optimistic news from his medical team.
The 221-centimeter-tall French center had to end the season earlier because of a blood clot that appeared in a vein on his right shoulder. It all happened right after the All-Star weekend, which was bad news for many fans because he was already one of the most interesting players to watch. However, the young player can now smile.
"I just got the official clearance to come back. The Spurs medical team gave me the green light just a few hours ago. Uh, finally I'll be able to play some basketball again," Victor Wembanyama told L'Équipe, showing how much he cares about the game.
Without Eurobasket, but with Shaolin training
In order to fully recover and prepare for the new NBA season, he decided to skip the performance for the French national team at the upcoming Eurobasket. This was confirmed by the French Basketball Federation at the end of June. In the meantime, photos of him training with the Shaolin monks appeared, which surprised many, especially since he also wore a completely new hairstyle.
Victor Wembanyama was unanimously voted rookie of the year last season. In his NBA debut, he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists and even 3.8 blocks per match. Such numbers show that this is not an ordinary talent, but a player who could mark the next decade.
If he stays healthy, next season could be even better. Fans in San Antonio certainly have reason to be optimistic.
It will be an exciting season, no doubt.
