The LA Lakers are back on track after a few poor performances. They won their second straight game against the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 125:109, once again showing their strength on home court, at Crypto Arena.
Luka Dončić played another game in his signature style. He scored 21 points, dished out 14 assists, and was just one rebound short of a triple-double. However, this time Dončić was not the star of the night. His teammate, 26-year-old Austin Reaves, looked amazing.
Reaves continued his string of great performances, scoring 30 points in his fourth straight game in just five days. It became clear that this player has truly grown, especially after the humiliation four years ago. In the 2021 NBA draft, Reaves was selected with the 42nd overall pick by the Detroit Pistons, but he was disappointed by the selection and refused to sign a contract.
He ended up choosing the Lakers, where he worked hard, and now his efforts are starting to bear fruit.
"That guy scored 30 points in his fourth game in five days. He's incredible. I'm shocked they didn't draft him," Dončić said of his teammate.
Other matches
The rest of the evening brought several exciting matches, including the clash between the Golden State Warriors and the Denver Nuggets, which ended with the Nuggets winning 105:114. Nikola Jokić did not play for the Nuggets due to elbow and knee problems, but Aaron Gordon looked great with an amazing 38 points.
Two games went into overtime. The Houston Rockets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 144:137, and the best player in that match was Jalen Green with 46 points. The Minnesota Timberwolves failed to take advantage of Anthony Edwards' 38 points, as they were defeated by the Indiana Pacers in overtime with a score of 130:132.
Several interesting matches, but also names that say that we should not be afraid for the future of the NBA. There are many talents waiting for their chance, and when Dončić tells you that you are great, then you certainly have quality.
