Back-to-back suspensions is quite an uncommon thing to see in the UFC. Khalil Rountree was almost on a match cancellation streak – prior to the title shot he was forced to withdraw from his fight with Jamahal Hill. Khalil Rountree declared that he mistakenly consumed an illegal substance that is not allowed to be in the system before fights.
As a result, he will be facing a 4.5 months + suspension but will be able to fight Alex Pereira. The interest for Alex Pereira vs Khalil Rountree has been slightly low because people felt Rountree didn't deserve a title shot.
It will be very interesting to see who ends up rising victoriously on 5th October at UFC 307.
