For those who may know what it feels like to be in the current position of Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Ja'Marr Chase, it must be Justin Jefferson. Recently, the Minnesota Vikings player offered advice to his old friend at LSU as Chase was gearing up to make his contract decision.

On the latest episode of "Up & Adams" on FanDuel, Jefferson, who recently renegotiated his contract and also went through a similar experience with a particular player earlier this year, suggested that it was all good.

“He’s going to be about his business, he’s going to be about what time it is, he’s going to show up when he’s supposed to,” Jefferson said. “I hope I’m wrong. I hope he gets the contract he desires, but at the same time, he should be smart about it and not let that affect his performance on the field”.

Chase Seeks Record

According to NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport, Chase is trying to be Jackson’s Jefferson deal, if only for a penny. Jefferson is the highest-paid Wide Receiver, having signed a four year deal worth $140 million with the Vikings at a rate of $35 million per year.

If the former offensive rookie of the year is indeed looking for even more than Jefferson’s record setting deal, it will be tough for the Bengals as they try to appease the star while managing the team's needs. Jefferson’s reaction to the question on what he would say if Chase gets the contract was a little humorous as he indicated he could not air the response to a text he would probably send to Chase.

However, he stressed that there would be no hate. “It’s always love, especially on my end, because my brothers are doing well in this league and making a name for themselves,” Jefferson said. He also remembered their days in LSU well, explaining how they and other receivers aspired to be at the elite level of the NFL.

"That's always something we'd talk about in the receiving room at LSU," Jefferson defended. "We all knew we could compete with the crème de la crème in the league. It’s heartwarming to watch everything we dreamt about come to be”.
