Jin, a young boxer with high hopes, suffered a devastating left hook in his fight against Brian Norman Jr. During the fight in Tokyo, he was left motionless after falling backwards and hitting his head on the floor, which caused great concern. Emergency services quickly responded and took him on a stretcher, then to hospital for a detailed neurological examination.
Everyone was in a panic, as they didn't know what had happened, because everything seemed so fast.
His club president, Issei Nakaya, commented on the situation, saying that scans showed no bleeding in the brain or any permanent damage, but that the blow was very strong.
“He doesn’t even remember the fight being arranged,” Nakaya told The Sun. “He has lost his memory of the last six weeks.”
An official statement said:
“After the fight, he was taken to hospital where a CT scan was performed. There was no bleeding, but the blow was very strong and he is currently suffering from memory loss. He is not physically injured, but remains under constant medical supervision and further examinations are expected.
Fight and future
The match was stopped in the fifth round after Brian perfectly took advantage of the opportunity and hit him precisely in the chin, which resulted in a direct knockout.
For the 23-year-old boxer, this was only the second defeat in his career, but certainly the most difficult in terms of health. His future now is not only in the ring, but also in taking care of his health.
On the other hand, the 28-year-old American remains undefeated with an impressive record of 28 wins without defeats, and announces a fight for the unification of the titles in the category up to 66 kilograms.
These kinds of situations are what we don't want to see on the boxing scene, but unfortunately combat sports can bring about moments like this. The question is what will happen in this case, and what consequences will the famous boxer have after all.
