The Boston Celtics and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed on a trade in which the experienced 35-year-old "combo" guard, Jrue Holiday, will move to the ranks of the team from Oregon. This trade brings additional changes for both clubs, and ESPN was the first to publish the details of this transfer.

The fans emphasize that this trade will change the dynamics within both clubs, which have serious plans for next year.

Holiday, who is 193 centimeters tall, is not new to Portland. Let's remind you, before arriving in Boston, in the 2023 season, he got to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Demian Lillard, and then immediately moved to the Celtics. However, he never played for the Oregon franchise back then, which makes this transfer an interesting throwback.

In this trade, Boston received Anferni Simons, a 26-year-old talented player, as well as two second-round picks in the NBA draft. This combination brings freshness and additional options to the coaching staff of the Celtics, which is now free of space for new acquisitions.

According to the agreement, Boston will also receive a tax relief in the amount of 40 million dollars, which is an additional plus for the team from Massachusetts.

Holliday's financial plan

Holiday will collect 32.4 million dollars in the next season, while his income in the following years is planned at 34.8 and 37.2 million, respectively. On the other hand, Simons will collect 27.7 million and will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.

The experienced basketball player, who built his career in Philadelphia, New Orleans and Milwaukee, averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per match last season. It is worth noting that he has two NBA titles behind him, won with Milwaukee and the Boston Celtics.

Portland, on the other hand, gets a proven fighter and player who will certainly raise the level of competition and experience in their team. It is especially significant for the Celtics that they were able to bring Portland's best scorer from last season, Simons, who averaged 19.3 points and 4.8 assists per game.
