The well-known name in the world of tennis, Jannik Sinner, has faced massive problems in recent months, with a focus on a doping case. The young tennis player, however, managed to move forward without severe consequences and continued his journey on the tennis scene, aiming for even greater success. Many have pointed out that this experience could serve as a motivating factor for him and ignite an even stronger desire to achieve success.

Sinner now has the chance to make a major leap and lift the trophy at the US Open. His next challenge in the semifinals will be Jack Draper. The world’s top-ranked Italian tennis player, Jannik Sinner, stated today that he does not consider himself a "big" favorite against the Briton Jack Draper in the semifinals of the season's final Grand Slam tournament, the US Open, according to American media reports.

This morning, Sinner defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the US Open quarterfinals. Although many expected a tough match, Jannik relatively easily secured victory and demonstrated that he is an amazing tennis player. The Russian tennis player was likely the toughest challenge for him in the tournament so far, but Sinner managed to win much more easily than some had anticipated.

The 23-year-old tennis player believes he is not a huge favorite for the semifinals, even though the audience thinks otherwise. Carrying the role of a favorite is not simple, but the Italian is accustomed to this role. The American has many strong qualities when it comes to his tennis. There is no need to elaborate too much on Sinner’s qualities; nothing less than victory is expected from him.

"I don't think I’m a big favorite in the semifinals. All the players who have reached the semifinals have earned it. Solutions must be found for every opponent. Now it’s the semifinals, and these are different matches. I’m certainly lucky to have had the chance to experience it before. It will be interesting," Sinner said.

He admitted that he had a tough match against Medvedev. Given that they had faced each other before, he used the fact that he knew the Russian’s strengths and weaknesses and deservedly won. Sinner found his rhythm, had several great moments, and ultimately capitalized on the momentum.

"We know each other very well. There were many challenging situations. But starting the first and third sets with a break really helped. I’m very happy with the win," -he continued.

Sinner mentioned that he is well-acquainted with Jack Draper's game. The Italian does not want to underestimate the American, who has shown how dangerous he can be throughout the tournament. Draper aims to take it a step further and create a major surprise in this tournament. The young tennis player expects an interesting match that will bring excitement.

"It will be a tough match; he hasn’t lost a set in New York yet. He’s playing well, serving well, and hitting the ball very strongly. It will be interesting," Sinner said.

Medvedev reacts to his loss

Regarding the previous match, many expected more from the Russian player Medvedev. Medvedev admitted after the match that his defeat by Sinner was hard to bear. The experienced player does not understand why he made so many mistakes and could not recover from his poor rhythm. Additionally, confidence was clearly a huge problem for him.

"There were both good and not-so-good moments. The good thing is that I had a response after such a bad first and third set. The bad thing is that I couldn’t solve the problems before the fourth set. I made mistakes, but I don’t know why. So, I wasn’t able to correct them. I didn’t have enough confidence, as I used to be able to win matches even when making mistakes," Medvedev said.

In the first US Open semifinal, Americans Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz will face each other. Sinner will have the chance to face one of them in the final. Of course, he must first overcome one more obstacle.

After the entire chaos surrounding him, it seems that Sinner knew how to respond to criticism not only from fans but also from well-known figures in the tennis world, colleagues, and legends of the sport. The 23-year-old believes that this issue is behind him and that he is now focused just on the future and the successes he aims to achieve. Despite facing fear and uncertainty, he persevered and trained, believing that he would return to the tennis court. Now that he has succeeded in doing so, it remains to be seen what the Italian will offer his fans. Winning the title would be an impressive accomplishment after everything he has been through.
