Rory McIlroy's decisions can sometimes be bizarre, and despite the fact that he is one of the most popular figures on the golf scene, McIlroy often shocks us with his moves. After the magic at this year's Masters, and a moment he will never forget, the Northern Irish golfer gained many more fans and completed history.

However, not long after, Rory brings controversy with him again; The Northern Irish golfer decided to miss some important tournaments, such as the Memorial Tournament, hosted by Jack Nicklaus

The legendary golfer pointed out that he does not want to be too harsh towards McIlroy, not having a negative opinion of him because he decided to miss this tournament.

Jack has words of praise for the experienced golfer, aware of his importance and the success he has achieved in this sport.

'I am not throwing Rory under the bus,' - Nicklaus said, as quoted by Daily Mail.

'I like Rory too much. He's a good kid. He's played some great golf. He's had a lot of things that have happened to him. He's got to make his own call on things.

Could he have done them differently? Probably. But that's all right. I could probably have done some of mine differently, too.'

Nicklaus believes McIlroy has the freedom to choose his schedule

Rory clearly needed a break after his whirlwind adventure at Augusta National. However, such a practice is not exactly typical for champions like him, and the question is how PGA Tour officials will react to it.

Nicklaus stressed that he has no intention of complaining about Rory, although he admits that he does not know the reasons why McIlroy decided not to call him and explain why he will not play in this tournament.

Nicklaus admits that he does not have the answers to many questions, but stresses that Rory has the freedom to make a schedule, and choose the best option for himself.
