NASCAR has reacted many times this season when it comes to penalties regarding losing wheels. SVG is the last driver in the series who felt the consequences of this on his skin, just like his team.
However, each of the teams tries to finish things as soon as possible during the pit stops.
Denny Hamlin analyzed such things during the podcast, saying that the crew usually does not check if everything is in order after changing the tires. However, an experienced driver questions whether this is a good thing, considering the consequences that can arise.
“I heard this brought up, I forget who it was, maybe it was Jeff Burton post-race. But they said it’s probably why we’re seeing loose wheels, as well,” Denny Hamlin said, as quoted by On3.
“If you see, a lot of times we’ll drop jacks and they’re not even checking to see if it’s (right). They’re just going off sound and rhythm of the lug should be tight at this point and they drop it because we’re all fighting for that time.
Because when we had six men the jackmen could just concentrate on looking down, looking to see the changers are done and dropping it. Now he’s hanging tires. His head’s turned sometimes when they’re dropping the jack.”

Hamlin won the race at Martinsville, delighting the NASCAR public. Denny Hamlin reflected on his team, saying he had mixed moments during the pit stop, but was overall pleased with his team.
“I’ve had times where it’s not felt that way, and I’ve had a lot of rough gos at it on pit road,” Hamlin said. “But this group has meshed together.”
The veteran NASCAR driver put the emphasis on the jackman , stressing that they are almost at the limit of time to change tires due to equipment, but explains that it is a result of the jackman and transition. Hamlin was impressed by the team's reactions during the tire change, aware of how challenging the task is.
