Ja Morant, one of the most talented basketball players in the NBA, is in the spotlight again, but this time because of his firearms issues. After already having several problems with the league last year for carrying a gun in public, it seems that scandals will become a part of his career, considering the number of them during his career so far. The Memphis defender, who has already been suspended several times, encounters identical things again.
Although Morant is certainly one of the best players of his generation, during 2023 he faced big problems. Namely, after showing a gun on social networks, he was suspended for eight games, and due to a new incident, when he caused a similar scandal again in May of the same year, the suspension was extended to an additional 25 games.
However, the last incident at the game against Golden State again caused an avalanche of reaction from the public. Namely, at the very end of the game, Morant allegedly imitated shooting a weapon towards the opponent's bench, which attracted the attention of NBA leaders, who decided to initiate proceedings.
A new incident and punishment
Soon after, the NBA fined Morant 75,000 dollars, which is another sign that the league management will not accept this kind of behavior at all.
Although some critics felt that the sentence was too small, considering his past, Morant is a person who does not care too much about media headlines, focused on building a career in a specific way.
On the field, his numbers remain truly incredible; this season he scores 22.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game, and Memphis is currently fighting for a place in the playoffs.
Despite all his scandals, it's hard to forget his successes on the NBA floor. Ja Morant was selected as the second pick in the 2019 draft and immediately showed tremendous potential.
However, the 25-year-old will have to watch his behavior, as his reputation as a 'bad boy' cannot bring him positive things in his career. On the contrary, he has now felt the greatest consequences of his actions.
