Daniel Dubois recently faced serious criticism after he decided to withdraw from his fight against Joseph Parker, just two days before the scheduled match. Dubois contracted a virus while preparing for the fight in Riyadh, which is why his doctor advised him to stay away from the fight. At that point, he and his team decided to listen to the experts and cancel the event.

Although there were rumors that the withdrawal was actually the result of fear of Parker, who, according to some sources, looked in great shape during public training, it is very difficult to believe such theories. It seems that the decision was motivated just by his health and concern for his own safety, because in professional sports, health must always come first.

Dubois' trainer, Don Charles, emphasized that the team made a smart decision, although many commented on his move. Charles told Sky Sports that he was angry at the negative comments, explaining that fighters should be protected, not forced into fights when they are not ready.

"In this business, it's not always about macho decisions, but smart decisions based on health and safety," Charles said.

Preparations

What many didn't know was that pulling out of the fight actually caused huge financial losses for Dubois and his team. According to Charles, the preparations for this fight were extremely expensive, with the entire camp lasting three and a half months. All the money invested in the camp went to waste because Dubois didn't show up, which meant he didn't earn what was supposed to be the biggest fee of his career so far.

In any case, Dubois wasn't paid for the fight he didn't fight, but experts believe that even though he lost money, he will make up for it in the future. His next fight will be crucial, although it's still unclear who he'll fight. This time, he'll definitely be more careful in his preparations to avoid similar problems and build a career without health obstacles.
