Dak Prescott Tunes Out Jerry Jones

The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been quite noisy, with plenty of that noise being around contract negotiations. While the team finally got broad receiver CeeDee Lamb to sign a staggering four-year contract worth $136 million, quarterback Dak Prescott is still waiting for his deal.

There were talks going on, but a deal with Prescott is hard to come by since it looks like it will never happen. This is when Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, was actively speaking out. When on Wednesday Jones was engaged about what he needed to be shown about Prescott and Jones became monochromatic, Jones replied enigmatically, 'You could easily say, if you haven’t seen it by now, you haven’t seen it.'

For me, Dak’s situation right now has more to do with this than it is about the merits of Dak Prescott being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys”. Such instances are normal in Dallas as Jones’ comments have been more frequently ambiguous and missing the point, but they no longer bother Prescott.

The quarterback has made it clear that he is over-making sense of what Jerry Jones has to say publicly. “I stopped, honestly, listening to things (Jerry Jones) says to the media a long time ago; there is nothing worth listening to in them," Prescott assessed.

Prescott-Cowboys Rift

The rift between him and the Cowboys' management is currently at a tipping point, meaning the latter can no longer hold their emotions within a second time. As the months dragged on and negotiations proved fruitless, the likelihood of him taking his talent elsewhere in 2025 was beginning to look like an actuality.

What used to be a grounding structure between the quarterback and the organization now seems to be a crumbling one, leaving the fans and the analysts no option but to guess what the future holds for Prescott in the team. This is a shrinking window case, as in the case of Prescott.

In a situation like this, the next actions or the nonactions that the Dallas franchise takes may decide whether he remains a star player for the Cowboys or if he will soon play for another team. Come March, when 2024 is about to end, all the attention shall be directed to the unfolding of this story during the coming months.
