WWE star Cody Rhodes has spoken out about the company's decision to hold its recent Night of Champions event in Saudi Arabia, despite growing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Speaking to the Boston Herald, the popular "American Nightmare" defended WWE's commitment to a global audience, dismissing concerns about political affiliations and decisions.

The premium live event took place at a time of heightened international tensions, after the US carried out airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, causing a missile response and an attack on a US base. Rhodes admitted that the situation was sensitive, but he firmly stood by WWE's mission.

"I don't want to be negative, but I have to say that today there is this whole culture of 'you're caught' — who's a Democrat, who's a Republican, who's a moderate and who do people support," Rhodes said. "None of that stuff should really be anyone's concern – because our job is to go where our show goes, which is around the world, and hopefully bring people together."

Cody Rhodes: WWE is an apolitical brand

Rhodes emphasized that WWE is an apolitical entertainment platform whose goal is to bring people together through its programming.

"WWE is an apolitical brand. We go where the show goes," he continued. "One of the eye-opening moments is when you go to Saudi Arabia with WWE, and you look at the crowd ... there is such a similarity between those who are eager for WWE at home and those who are eagerly waiting for it in Europe, as well as around the world. I feel very honored to have the opportunity to perform, especially in these difficult times."

At the Night of Champions event, Cody defeated Randy Orton to win the prestigious King of the Ring tournament, thus securing the opportunity to challenge for the world title at SummerSlam, scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd.

Rhodes remains one of WWE's most vocal ambassadors, and his statements reflect the company's longstanding commitment to bringing entertainment to a global audience regardless of political or cultural barriers. As his showdown with John Cena approaches, his story as the King of the Ring is only gaining momentum.
