Essentially, everything good and bad can be found in Kadarius Toney's career since joining the Kansas City Chiefs. The moments of athletic explosion emanated during certain periods, but being a former first-round pick carry the weight of pressure, which he churned out to attain.

This week, some players became free agents while other players were retained during the 53 man roster cut as the chiefs decided to part ways with Toney. The Kansas City Chiefs general manager, however, did not criticize Toney’s abilities regardless of the action taken against him.

Toney was originally taken by the New York Giants as the 20th overall selection. He played for the Chiefs for a season and a half. During those times, he was only able to register a mere forty-one receptions, amounting to three hundred and forty yards and three touchdowns.

However, despite these numbers being far below self-expectation, he did well in one of the great moments of his own career square-on.

Super Bowl Impact

While against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, Toney registered a desperate 5-yards landing reception from the thrown of Mahoma so impressively.

It was critical and very near to a successful, aggressive positioning of Mahoma led to Kansas City distressed itself against the opposition with a dependency of 38 35. Likewise, a powerful punt ignited the game and set the Chiefs stomping onto the opposition’s five yard line setting up a score.

These helped ensure that the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl title. Although he spent less time impacting the team as he would have liked due to various injuries and the inability to be consistently effective throughout the campaign, Brett Veach believes that his chapter as the Chiefs is over on a positive note.

“I don’t think we’re sitting here going for a third straight Super Bowl without that trade,” Veach stated. This comment reinforces why Toney was regarded as a significant asset in their Super Bowl win awarded to the New York Giants, even though his overall contribution to the statistics did not meet the original level of expectations set for him.
