The UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, has a strong position of authority where he can make decisions about who he wants to fight. He was offered a fight with Shavkat Rakhmonov, but Belal declined the offer because the return timeframe was too soon for him (UFC 307, October 5th).

Belal has two names in his mind for his first title defense: Kamaru Usman and Shavkat Rakhmonov. Belal Muhammad now suggests that Kamaru Usman and Shavkat Rakhmonov should fight each other and the winner of that could fight for the belt.
