Aljamain Sterling Reveals Who He Wants Next: “I am going to risk it for the biscuit”

Aljamain Sterling was all set to make his climb to the top by locking horns with the 6th ranked featherweight contender Movsar Evloev on 5th October at UFC 307. It was nothing but a fantastic opportunity which unfortunately for Sterling was been blown away because of an injury he faced during training as he was forced to withdraw from the event.

If Movsar does not agree to have the fight rebooked, the former bantamweight champ would prefer facing Diego Lopes next because he is one of the few contenders who is closest to getting a title fight.

Aljamain Sterling on his next fight

In a recent interview with The Schmo, the former UFC bantamweight champion explained his selection of opponent and how it logically makes sense for him.

“I don’t know maybe Diego Lopes. That will be a battle for the three. Talking about the next fight if Movsar declines i just don’t know who else will he fight but if you give me the option I always wanted Brian Ortega so that I could get the closest to the top.

And now my closest opponent is Diego Lopes. That’s all it is, it had nothing to do with what this guy did or that – its the name value what he gets me risk versus reward and if i am going to risk it for the biscuit".

Aljamain Sterling admits that he allows himself an occasional drink during fight camp.

“If I have a great sparring day, I will treat myself in the middle of the camp.
