The UFC scene is once again bringing great moments, and one fighter from the Caucasus region is in the center of attention. The impressive Arman Tsarukyan, although so far without a confirmed opponent, will not rest; quite the opposite. At the UFC 317 event, scheduled for June 28, he will have one of the most significant roles of the evening.
Namely, the 27-year-old Armenian was confirmed as an official replacement for the main fight, where Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira will clash for the lightweight belt. Although the audience will be focused on that fight, attention should also be focused on the great fighter from Yerevan who is waiting in readiness. The information was first shared by Tsarukyan himself on social networks, and soon came confirmation from reputable sources such as the MMA Fighting portal.
Story
As a reminder, at the beginning of the year this fighter already spoke about the need for the UFC to have a reserve fighter ready for big events. And the irony of fate; it was he who had to cancel a big match against Islam Makhachev in January due to a back injury. Then there was no reserve, and the situation was saved by Renato Moicano, who took his place.
That experience did not come easily to the ambitious fighter. He remained in a kind of sports void, without a certain date for his next performance. The president of the UFC, Dana White, then made it clear that Tsarukyan needs to win one more to be among the contenders for the title again.
This new chance at UFC 317 seems like a strategic move and a possible shortcut to a new attack on the top. Even if the headliners of the night do not cancel, his name remains in circulation, and the fact that he has a fresh victory over Oliveira further works in his favor. Also, a possible duel against Topuria would be particularly interesting because both of them come from the Caucasus; which would give additional weight to that fight.
For now, it remains in "stand by" mode. And he trains. And he's waiting. Maybe the phone rings sooner than anyone expects.
