The British giant, who has been synonymous with the heavyweight division for years, is still not closing the door on professional boxing. Although he announced his retirement on social media in January, it seems that the 36-year-old is not quite done with his story in the ring.

The decision to retire came after two painful defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. The first came in May, when he failed to be crowned the absolute champion, and the second in December, when the Ukrainian showed even greater superiority and confirmed his status as an undefeated champion.

Instead of finally doing the match that fans have been wanting for years – the one against Anthony Joshua – the former champion decided to leave. But as things stand, his return is once again the topic. He says he is seriously considering April 2026 as the month when he could do a third fight against Usyk – of course, if the latter successfully defends his titles in a rematch against Daniel Dubois, which takes place next weekend at the legendary Wembley.

Joshua is back in the game

If the trilogy with Usyk is not possible, there is another option. The "Gypsy King" himself says that he is open to what the boxing public has been wanting for almost ten years - a fight against Joshua.

Speaking to Seconds Out, he also touched on the topic of his team. When asked if his father John, who caused controversy due to different advice from coach SugarHill Steward and assistant Andy Lee during the first match with Usyk, will be standing in his corner again, Fury said briefly:

- Yes, my dad never even left.

Although John did not appear in the rematch, it seems that there were no problems between them. And as for the coaching team, he has already confirmed that, if he returns, he will work with the man who was by his side during his greatest triumphs – SugarHill.

Although nothing is official yet, fans have reason to feel that a return is never far away. Given everything that remains unresolved with Joshua, April could be the moment when the boxing world stops once again for the man who has never stopped being in the news.
