The Jacksonville Jaguars are more than motivated to recover from their woes last season and not miss the playoffs again this season. They, however, did not get off on the right foot for the season opener. A bright beginning was followed by stagnation in the second period, leading to a loss.

The Jaguars took control of the match, giving the Miami Dolphins a 17-7 lead at halftime. However, this did not hold in the second half, as the team could not score any more points. In the end, the Dolphins ran away with the match, winning 20-17, with kicker Jason Sanders fitting the last action of the day.

Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars' Quarterback and captain, did not hide his disappointment after the match, especially about the second half of the game. After a brief match of silence, when asked by The Florida Times-Union if he felt disbelief about the team's collapse, Lawrence was snappish: “For sure, yeah.

It’s pretty spot on to my feelings after the game. We just gave it away,” Lawrence admitted, voicing the team’s self-criticism.

Etienne's Costly Turnover

One of the mistakes that ruined the Jaguars was a very valuable turnover by running back Travis Etienne.

Then again, Lawrence did not seek to slam his comrade for such a foul. “It is easy to say we habitually emphasize protecting the ball but do not practice it,” Lawrence said. “But I’ve been in that same position, and that’s what I told Travis.

I’ve done it before, too. So no one is pointing the fingers”. Preparing for their next hurdle, the Jaguars will be looking to regain their composure after the painful loss. The team hopes that they will apply the many lessons learned and come out with a better performance so that several self-inflicted wounds suffered in the opening week will not be repeated.

The Jaguars will be facing a crucial game in the near future, and finding ways to bring back the early game juice is essential as it will determine whether or not they record their first win of the season.
