Mercedes has had its best start to the 2025 season since the current Formula 1 regulations came into force, but Toto Wolff is not satisfied and says he wants to be more competitive at the Miami Grand Prix.
Despite the departure of Lewis Hamilton and the arrival of newcomers like Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes has collected 111 points from the first five race weekends, which means it has 95 points more than in 2022, 96 points more than in 2023 and 52 points more than in 2024.
As a result, the opening part of the season has been positive for the Silver Arrows, but Wolff wants to go one step further and hopes to apply the knowledge gained in Saudi Arabia to improve their performance by solving the tire overheating problem at the Miami Grand Prix.
“We have started the season well, but we do not feel satisfied. We want to continue and consolidate the positive trajectory that we have established so far in the first five races,” said Toto Wolff.
“The Saudi Grand Prix was more challenging, but with high temperatures and the same range of compounds as in Jeddah. We have a lot of lessons to learn from this weekend. So we hope to be more competitive,” he added.
Miami Grand Prix
On the other hand, the Mercedes boss noted that the Miami Grand Prix has become one of the most important events on the Formula 1 calendar, as there will be a lot of events for them both on and off the track.
“Miami is an iconic city and the event has become one of the most important races on the calendar. This year we are presenting several exciting activations, including film premieres, technology forums, partner events, our own hospitality and much more, to celebrate both Miami and the team’s roots,” he added.
“This week we will unveil a different look as part of this season, with the launch of our first special edition in collaboration with Adidas. We are also looking forward to seeing Doriane on the track in a custom Miami livery.”
"It will be an action-packed weekend and we expect it to be one of the highlights of the 2025 season so far, both on and off the track," concluded Toto Wolff.
