One of the most revered former quarterbacks, Tom Brady, boasts an unparalleled career in the NFL and has also won numerous Super Bowl titles. He is now engaged in broadcasting. Having probably hung his boots for the last time on the field, Brady is now learning how to explain the sport of football to people who are not familiar with it.
After Brady made his broadcasting debut, covering the NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns, which was aired on Fox during the week 1 TV season, he garnered many polarizing reactions. Brady's first outing was to be enthusiastic; that was true, but slitting open the figures to dissect was one performance that drew a lot of adverse comments.
However, Brady came around by week 2, more composed and informative, making a balanced tempo between detailed expository and brief analysis.
Brady Discusses Broadcast Challenges
Brady recalled that the last time he spoke to his good friends was during the American Football Conference Conference "Let’s Go" podcast, hosted by Jim Gray and Bill Belichick, the long-serving head coach Brady.
Likewise, in this context, Brady spoke in detail about the difficulties that he faced in his new job as a broadcaster, especially the task of making the viewers understand the game without going into the nitty-gritty, which he confesses is one of the most complicated parts of his $375 million Broadcasting Career.
"I think when I’m sitting up there, so much of my commentary as I go on is going to be based on trying to make the game simple for the viewer to understand when we know it’s not simple. Anybody can get on there and talk about, In Cover 2, this is what you gotta do.
You gotta read the high-low," Brady explained. "Yeah, that’s fun and that’s technical, but people won’t understand s--- if we do that. So we gotta find simple ways, and I’ve gotta continue to find simple ways to describe that to people who are just tuning in for three hours every week." Brady remarked that clawing his way up the learning curve of the broadcast booth was a hobby: "It’s a challenge for sure.
I definitely feel like a rookie out there. S*** is moving fast when I’m up in the booth." While he alters and perfects his technique, Brady will make his words heard over the American Football-owned version of this sport in the Week 3 game featuring Dallas Cowboys (1-1) vs.
Baltimore Ravens (0-2). Apart from former All Pro Apasiana giving further amusement, this engagement provides additional chances for Brady to reach out to the audience and utilize his knowledge of the sport in a way that the average NFL fan would appreciate.
