 Ilia Topuria’s jaw-dropping knockout against Max Holloway has impressed almost every MMA fan worldwide. The former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley was also stunned by the iconic performance and witnessing the threat Topuria could turn out to be. After seeing the fight, Sean O’Malley called Topuria “Little Alex Pereira”. The recent win has also raised an important question: who’s next for the UFC featherweight champion? While it may appear to be Alexander Volkanovski, some fans are hoping it’s Islam Makhachev. 

Topuria is undeniably an exceptional striker but is he as good as his striking in the world of grappling? Maybe, maybe not.

In a recent YouTube video, Sean O’Malley shared his thoughts on Topuria vs  Holloway. 

“God, Ilia’s a finisher though, huh? He’ll jump on you,” O’Malley said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I think Ilia might have took that Round (1) just because he took his back at the end, but that was a super close round. Ilia’s so dangerous until the last bell.

He just hurt Max bad, Ilia lands a bomb, and Max is still stunned. He’s playing it off good. Oh, left hook! Ilia finishes Max Holloway with a left hook in Round 3. Holy , He is that guy. Wow". 

Sean O’Malley on Topuria’s next fight 

“Who, at 145, wants to fight Ilia right now? Ilia’s just so dangerous the whole fight. He’s a like a little  Alex Pereira. You can’t tell me Islam (Makhachev) vs. Topuria isn’t a fight you would want to see”.
