Ryan Garcia has shown interest in facing Jake Paul who recently secured a unanimous decision win against Mike Tyson. Many fans had high hopes for Mike Tyson to put a full stop on Jake Paul but the hopes remain to be in the same condition. Garcia, whom fans praised for his fast hands and personality, has announced he would join the bidding to bring fans the match they have been longing for. Garcia’s professional boxing license has been inactive since obtaining a suspension for testing positive for a substance that is prohibited by WBC Up until April 2025.
But that has not discouraged the former interim lightweight champion from considering this potential crossover showdown (With Jake Paul). Even though Garcia is suspended, he has managed to make some noise and secured an exhibition bout against Rukiya Anpo scheduled to take place on 30th December.
Along with announcing the callout, King Ryan made some rather aggressive statements about how he would have his way with Jake. Judging Jake's fight against Tyson, Garcia said he can knock out the YouTuber-turned-boxer in four to five rounds. The 26-year-old also took a trip down memory lane and recalled how Paul had ventured into boxing during his early days, saying that the two of them have history which makes the fight more interesting. Ryan Garcia on fighting Jake Paul
Recently on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ryan Garcia explained how he’s ready to face the ‘problem child’.
“It would be huge,” Garcia said as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “I see it everywhere. Everywhere I go, people are asking me to fight Jake. I’ve got to give the people what they want, that’s what I’m used to doing. If Jake fights the way he fought with Mike, I genuinely believe I would knock him out within four (or) five rounds, we said we would run it one day. He came to my gym a long time ago in Victorville, then he came to visit me with the Canelo (Alvarez) camp — this is before he boxed. So I kind of gave birth to his boxing career, so I’m here to end it. That’s it.”
Weight difference was could be a factor of concern for this fight. King Ryan more commonly fights at the lightweight division and super lightweight division (135-140 pounds) meanwhile Paul was weighing 227 pounds for the fight against Tyson. Still, Garcia doesn’t fear it, noting that the example of the fight between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather can show that the weight difference does not have to be a significant concern.
