The rising contender has two choices for his next fight, Dan Hooker or Paddy Pimblett – while both seem to be viable options. Moicano is leaning a little more towards fighting Paddy because of the fan following and viewer engagement he promises to bring to the table.
The idea of seeing Dan Hooker in the top 5 is incomprehensible for Moicano because he feels Dan is unworthy of being there and has been granted an easy pass. The rising UFC lightweight contender is progressing quite rapidly, not by luck or other external influences but by sheer hard work and determination.
The recent win against Benoit Saint-Denis was not just a win; it was an iconic statement & a threat to all the top contenders that, in no time, the top tier of the lightweight division is going to be surrounded by menace.

Renato Moicano on Dan Hooker’s rankings
In a recent interview, Renato explained why he feels Dan Hooker isn’t worthy of being in the top tier.
“I don’t know how he’s in the top five – that’s unbelievable,” Moicano said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “It’s like to see a turtle in a tree. Have you seen a turtle in a tree? Somebody put him there.
That’s the whole thing, you know? He didn’t climb the tree, but he’s on the tree. So if they want to give me an easy pass for the title shot, Dan Hooker is easy money. Imagine if I take him down, what I’m going to do to him.
He has no ground game. Paddy Pimblett is another easy money, but I respect him a little bit more. You know why? Because he has a lot of followers. If you have followers, you have my respect. People want to see Paddy Pimblett, and I respect him”.
