The departure is currently temporary, because the transfer was agreed on a loan until the end of the season, but there is an option for a permanent transfer, because Aston Villa has the right to buy him for approximately 50 million euros.
At the end of December, Rashford announced the possibility of leaving, which triggered the interest of numerous European clubs such as Milan, Barcelona and Dortmund. However, none of them could take his £325,000-a-week salary. Villa have agreed to cover at least 75% of his income until the end of the season, with the possibility of an increase to 90%, depending on his performances.

Rashford will now try to get his career back on track in Birmingham, after he was followed by negative comments in recent seasons due to his lack of professionalism and dedication. Although previous coaches tolerated him, Ruben Amorim had no patience. The Portuguese made it clear that Rashford will have to change if he wants to remain part of the team.
"Imagine a talent like Rashford's. Our team needs to be better, but he has to change. If he changes, we will use his talent, but now we have to set the standards," said Amorim.
Rashford, who has not played since December 12, was last on the bench against Newcastle, and this season he scored seven goals and registered three assists in 24 games. In Aston Villa, he will try to strengthen the attack, which was weakened by the departure of John Duran to Al Nasr. Villa is planning more reinforcements, while it is expected that Manchester United is also looking for new faces in the attack, after already letting Antonio to Betis and Jadon Sancho to Chelsea.
