Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stressed that there will be no holding back. In the current season, the Eagles have adopted a bold strategy of attempting fourth downs, and so far, they have managed to convert three out of four attempts.

Loud decisions can cost anyone dearly and this was taught to him during Wessex’s last game where the ravaging Eagles were outclassed against Atlantia by 22-21. The Eagles’ record now reads 1-1, and they are still shaking some of the blues of porous defense, which saw them blow a late lead in the game to go down 15-18 with under 2 minutes play to go.

It was under a minute left on the clock and a critical 3rd and three on the Falcons' 10-yard line. They had already used up their last timeout. That was a fair enough lead to protect.

Costly Missed Opportunity

Instead of adopting caution and executing a run, Kellen Moore called an offensive play of passing.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts attempted to carry the ball or throw it to running back Saquon Barkley, who was well positioned just near the first down. Jalen hit Saquon precisely, but unfortunately for the Eagles, Saquon let the pass go, too, letting the time run out.

That became the window and the entry into the flipping turf for the young quarterback of the Falcons, Kirk Cousins. This particular game saw Sirianni justifying the aggressive stance he had taken all along. But he began to bear fangs when pressed about the argumentative call where he had favored going for it on fourth down appropriately.

“Kellen’s the offensive coordinator and makes the calls,” Sirianni said sharply when asked about the third-and-3 play. When a reporter wanted clarification about whether there were any circumstances in which he could change Moore's mind about something, she was told "Yeah, I'm the head coach.

Another key decision came earlier in the game when the Eagles drove 55 yards downfield, only to come away empty-handed. On 4th-and-4 at the Falcons’ 9-yard line, Sirianni chose to bypass an easy field goal and went for it.

Hurts' pass to tight end Dallas Goedert was incomplete, turning the ball over on downs. In hindsight, those three points would have made a significant difference.
