Denny Hamlin is often a target of criticism, but it's also known that this great NASCAR driver has a huge fan base. Recently, he has faced a lot of criticism for his specific strategy of staying on the sidelines and waiting for his chance to secure a spot in the next round. The Happy Hour podcast provided a chance for his former colleague, Kevin Harvick, to reflect on Hamlin’s performances, emphasizing that he would like to see a different version of the experienced driver. Harvick wants to see Hamlin in a role where he fights for top positions and the very best.

He is not satisfied with Hamlin's current strategy, believing that Denny should show his true self, the way we often have seen him before. Kevin doesn’t like watching drivers lose their personalities while trying to succeed in a different way.

“Denny Hamlin and Chris Gabehart — those guys are offense players,” Harvick said, as quoted by On3

“I want to see them on offense. I want to see them battling for the lead. Pushing the pace of the race, controlling the race. And doing what they have to do, especially when we get to Talladega. Don’t want to see Denny Hamlin count points."

It’s well known that Hamlin has been searching for success and hoping to win a championship for many years, but it’s clear he hasn’t been very successful in that journey. Denny would need to change a lot, but frankly, he is still one of the most recognized figures in NASCAR and a driver admired by many. For years, various labels have been given to the experienced Hamlin, and he tries to ignore those comments. Although he often says that even if he doesn’t win a championship, he will still be happy with his career, the truth is he would love to achieve that feat in his lifetime.

"I still feel like they did what they had to do this weekend. But I’d still rather see him battling Kyle Larson. And taking the chances to win the races and not count points. Don’t believe that’s the way you’re gonna win the championship with Denny Hamlin. I think that they know that."-Denny Hamlin continued.

Kevin points out that they are probably a bit scared after the first two races, considering the many situations they've faced this season and in the recent races. An experienced figure in NASCAR, he believes Hamlin is the type of driver who could get out on the track and compete with the best, but to do that, he needs to be aggressive and show he is motivated to achieve it. It's clear that he lacks a bit of attitude and desire at the moment. Harvick firmly believes that drivers like Hamlin can really be competitive and fight for top positions, arguing that just focusing on points isn’t the best approach. He would rather see wrecks followed by strong performances than watch Hamlin take a more reserved stance on the track.

Denny Hamlin on haters

It’s well known that Denny has many haters and individuals who aren’t particularly happy with his performances, wishing things would go differently. He is also recognized as a somewhat controversial figure who often provokes strong reactions from fans, sometimes causing them to dislike him. This role seems to suit him at the moment, and he appears to enjoy being in that position. However, he admitted in recent months that he will likely tone down his views and approach things differently moving forward.

Hamlin addressed his critics, acknowledging that many people root for him to fail. He pointed out that he hadn’t seen as many negative comments recently, which he found interesting. He joked about searching for his usual online trolls, suggesting he could have responded to some of their jabs. However, this great driver decided to take the high road instead, emphasizing that he wouldn’t engage with them or give them the attention they desperately seek. By choosing not to respond, he showed maturity and a focus on his own success rather than getting caught up in the negativity.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the continuation of the season, with the desire to see what could happen. Although at the beginning it looked like winning the championship was an achievable goal, it is difficult to give the right answer as to what we can expect from Hamlin when it comes to the next races. This amazing driver will have to offer much more than what we are used to.

We know that Denny has a joker up his sleeve when the going gets tough. He will have to offer something special.
