The whole chaos regarding 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports and their lawsuit against NASCAR is still going on. Although these two teams got the right to perform next year thanks to the judge's decision, many are afraid of what the future of this sport will look like.

Brad Keselowski, a well-known face of the NASCAR scene, spoke to Business of Motorsports about the threats that exist for this sport, stressing that the outcome of this lawsuit can change the image of NASCAR.

“Well, I would say there’s 1A and 1B that are the two biggest threats for me. You know, one is whatever falls out of the charter lawsuit dispute between 23XI, Front Row Motorsports, and NASCAR. That is a significant threat to all of NASCAR which transcends the Cup Series. So, how that kind of unfolds is a threat to the sport.”- he said, as quoted by On3.

Brad Keselowski on OEMs

These two teams sued NASCAR, dissatisfied with their approach and treatment.

This lawsuit may change charter contracts, but also affect Next Gen cars and suppliers. Keselowski expressed concern about the OEMs in NASCAR, believing that NASCAR needs to do business with more of them. The departure of the eventual one, Keselowski stresses, would create great concern.

“Outside of that, the OEM picture and landscape is a significant threat,” Keselowski said.

“You know, NASCAR’s been operating with three OEMs now for probably a decade, decade and a half now, I would say. It’s a bit of a precarious position to be in. I feel like the sport needs about four maybe five OEMs to be kind of its max, healthy position."

All the changes in the automotive industry around the world worry the experienced driver. He understands that the regulations are mostly based on battery electric vehicles, stressing that companies like Tesla are taking over the car scene.

Keselowski also mentions the Asian automobile market, which is slowly entering the USA and taking over the market of this country. Brad believes that this is putting pressure on OEMs, and that it will eventually have consequences
for NASCAR.
