While the Kansas City Chiefs might not have any second thoughts about acquiring Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants, it is fair to say that the player disappointed the organization during his time there. Nevertheless, his time in the Chiefs’ blue and red was not as bright despite some flashes of brilliance, particularly in games that aided in Super Bowl runs.

Veach didn't flatly reject Johnson's opinions and even admitted that there was something awkward about Toney’s period in Kansas City. "We're certainly disappointed,” Veach stated. I think he's disappointed. We liked the kid, and I know that there are differences in opinions on Kadarius.

In this building, the kid is bright; he is smart." Unfortunately for the organization, these plans never became a reality as Toney had problems with injuries and fitness.

Toney Injury Struggles

To put it mildly, Toney joined the Chiefs amid a whirlwind.

A range of injuries afflicted him, including a tear of the meniscus on the very first day of the training camp last year. Pairing those setbacks with penalties incurred in untimely situations and distractions away from the field made it hard for him to make an impact.

“Some of this stuff is a stroke of bad luck,” Veach said, mentioning one of Toney’s injury concerns. “Like walking out last year's first day of training camp and tearing his meniscus. I mean, that was just unfortunate”.

Nonetheless, further complications would arise, and Veach also pointed out challenges that affected Toney and would lead to his release. “Sometimes you can make some bad luck turn into good luck by just doing some little things in the offseason [to] take care of your body,” said Veach.

“I think that’s a process he’s working through. It’s certainly not for a lack of talent”. The probability of Toney being cut before the regular season began may have posed some significant management concerns but rather highlights the need for thoroughness and exceptional physical fitness, particularly in the highly competitive National Football League setting.

To some extent, despite some perspectives regarding Veach’s sentiments being rather critical, he in a way evinces that Toney has the capability of changing things around provided he sorts out these issues.
