Last week, Jon Jones caused a lot of reactions when he went live on Instagram in the middle of the night and made a statement that worried many. In the video, which quickly went viral, this great UFC fighter made it clear that he was so frustrated that he could take someone's life.
"You get angry, you get p***** ***. And as a father, you just want to kill them," Jones said in the video.
Shortly after, Jon posted an apology on X, which he quickly deleted.
"Sorry, I just went crazy for a moment. It's over, I'm over it," the 49-year-old fighter wrote.
However, the damage had already been done. Many linked his behavior to another drunken outburst, given his history with alcohol, violence, and drugs. Although it was not confirmed whether he was under the influence of alcohol or other substances, the video quickly went viral, causing numerous reactions among fans and fighters alike.
Unexpected support
But surprisingly, one fighter has come to Jones' defense. Daniel Cormier, who is known for his outspoken negative attitude towards Jones, touched on the situation on his "Funky & The Champ" podcast.
"I don't like to support Jon Jones," Cormier admitted.
"Jones was walking down the street saying some crazy things about his kid... If he was on vacation, hasn't that happened to all of us at least once? Maybe not to this extent, but kids can drive us crazy. And you know what the worst part is? When you get back to your hotel room, you're the bad guy! Everyone's going to accuse you of being a bad person because you got upset..."
He finally added:
"I don't want to defend him, but let's be real... Haven't we all done that?"
While it's still unclear why Jones decided to post such a video, the fact that "DC" came to his defense surprised many. Every change brings new circumstances, and sometimes it seems that even those who have always been in conflict can find common ground.
