Although he could simply extend his cooperation with the Los Angeles Clippers for another season, the experienced basketball player from Arizona decided not to use his "player option". In this way, the popular James is looking for a two-year deal that would guarantee him more stability, but also higher earnings.

More years, more security: What will actually happen?

The contract he had with the team from California allowed him to simply click "yes" and stay for another season. However, such a move would only bring him a one-year contract. Instead, the 34-year-old guard wants something longer - more precisely, a two-year cooperation worth more than 80 million dollars.

Given that he has already earned over 370 million dollars during his career, it is clear that Harden no longer plays just for money. However, in the last three years, he did not receive more than 40 million per season, so this offer seems like a good opportunity for him to return to those numbers.

The new agreement, which is expected soon, will have partial guarantees, but also a "player option" – which means that the veteran will be able to decide whether he will stay after the first year. When that contract expires, Harden will be 38 years old.

He still has something to give

Although expectations in the play-offs, especially in the series against the Denver Nuggets, were somewhat higher, the experienced point guard still provided solid games - 18.7 points and 9.1 assists per game.

At the moment, he is one of the leaders of the Clippers team and it is clear that the leaders want to keep him. Rejecting the option does not mean leaving - on the contrary, Harden is just asking for his faith in him to be shown through a more serious, multi-year contract.

We'll see what kind of future awaits this NBA player, who still has the passion and hunger for success, despite everything.
