The UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria was never firmly fixated on locking horns with Sean O’Malley. The recent loss against Merab Dvalishvili made Topuria’s intentions even stronger – to not fight Sean O’Malley.
Merab Dvalishvili has already declared publicly that he won’t fight Ilia Topuria or jump to featherweight anytime soon. Which temporarily erases the chances of seeing a double champion in that region.

In a recent interview, Ilia Topuria shared his thoughts on fighting Sean O’Malley.
"Some other better fight will come along. It's like the same with Paddy. It seemed like a super attractive fight, but if you're not at the level, what can I do? You get defeated even before you get into the octagon with me.
I don't even need to get in there for people to know that I'm better than you. So why fight?".
