Fans of the Like a Dragon (also known as Yakuza) series have a new reason to rejoice! On February 13, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio decided to release a free demo for the upcoming game Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam). This demo will arrive at 16:00 our time, but will not be available for PS4 and Xbox One. Although the demo can already be tried on the mentioned platforms, the full version of the game will be available from February 21 for these older consoles as well.
Fun and new experiences
The demo allows players to explore parts of Honolulu and Madlantis, face bounty hunters, test two fighting styles, Mad Dog and Sea Dog, and enjoy naval battles inside the Pirates’ Coliseum. In addition, there are karaoke with three popular songs that further enhance the atmosphere of the game. While the development studio hasn't confirmed whether progress from the demo will be carried over to the full game, it seems the demo is more focused on the later part of the game, where free exploration and combat are allowed.
This spin-off of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which is set in the exotic world of Hawaii, follows the famous character Gorō Majima who wakes up with no memories and becomes a pirate. The game features naval battles similar to those from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, while the popular character Taiga Saejima also returns. Without a doubt, fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the release of this game, which is among the most popular on the market. Expectations are high, and many have already fallen in love with the unique combination of combat, exploration and charismatic characters that marked the previous games in the series.
Considering how much Like a Dragon has become a cult hit among players, the demo version is only an introduction to what awaits us in the full game, which many will be eagerly awaiting.
Whether it will live up to expectations or not, remains to be seen. It's hard to give the right answer.
