The PFL debutant Francis Ngannou absolutely battered Renan Ferreira in their highly anticipated heavyweight contest. It was a short show of MMA but very impactful. As always Francis Ngannou displayed expectational striking and grappling skills – after a certain point Renan Ferreira couldnt cope up with the pressure.

Ngannou sensed it and went all out – a couple left hand hammer punchs did the job and convinced the referee to stop the fight. Hence, Francis Ngannou claimed a glorious 1st round knockout win and is the new PFL heavyweight champion.

This leaves everyone with one important question to ask? Who's next for Francis. Well according to the champion, it could be anything – a boxing comeback or an MMA title defense.

Francis Ngannou’s post-fight interview

“It was my biggest challenge in the way that I wasn’t the person that I used to be,” Ngannou said, as quoted by mmafighting.com.“Coming into this fight, this fight was also a way for me to find out if I can still fight.

If I still have it. Something like that. If I can deal with this, the pressure, with the fight week, with the media and everything. We got through [it]”.

Francis on his next fight

"I knew I didn’t miss a step, I wasn’t worried about it.

I knew everything was still there. It was just about me being able to manage my emotion. We’re here, we finally get the result. I think my next move in combat sports all depends on me, how I feel. I always thought I still had a lot to give in combat sports.

Hopefully I keep thinking that way”.
