Former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins shocked the public last night on a show by stating that Phoenix Suns players fought several times in the locker room last season. He believes that this is one of the main reasons why the season was disastrous, and the team from Arizona suffered a real humiliation by missing the playoffs.
Although he did not want to reveal the exact names, Cousins gave a few details about what happened behind closed doors.
"A lot of things happened and a lot of things that were not talked about. I don't want to be the one to bring up such things, but I heard a lot of negativity from the locker room. There were a few fistfights. All of that was carried over to the court. I'm not going to go into detail or say who was fighting," he said.
Kevin Durant reacted
After these statements, Kevin Durant immediately took to social media and emphatically denied all of it.
"I have to answer him. He's talking nonsense. Yes, we were bad this year, but nothing like that has happened. Never," Durant said.
Cousins did not oblige to his answer.
"My source is one of your teammates. And it wasn't about you at all," Cousins pointed out, to which Kevin Durant once again responded:
"Easy, easy Boog. I don't want trouble with you or anyone else. I'm just saying your source is lying."
This argument quickly became the subject of ridicule among NBA fans.
One fan wrote, "KD beat up Nurkic before he was traded," while others added comments like, "They probably jumped Bradley Beal to make him go."
Of course, many did not believe the words of the sources mentioned by Cousins.
During the last season, the Suns often clashed on the field with opposing teams, and Jusuf Nurkić was part of those conflicts. After the chaos in the match against Dallas, he lost the confidence of the coach, which soon resulted in his departure to the Charlotte Hornets.
