A big achievement for the Cleveland Cavaliers guard

Ever since Donovan Mitchell appeared on the biggest stage, he has been constantly playing at an elite level. The former University of Louisville student was drafted with the 13th pick by the Denver Nuggets in 2017, but was immediately traded to the Utah Jazz.

He emerged as one of the Jazz's best players in his first season and led them to the playoffs in his playoff debut.

He has played in the playoffs in every season of his career so far, eight times in a row and in the first match with the Indiana Pacers he broke Michael Jordan's record. He scored at least 30 points in each first game of a playoff series eight straight times, surpassing the all-time leading scorer in that statistical category. Interestingly, the six-time champion still has a higher points average in the first games than Mitchell.

Mitchell record

Mitchell scored 30 points against Indiana, but Cleveland was convincingly defeated and the Cavs' best player shot 1/11 for three-pointers. He will have to shoot better in the rest of the series, but also for his teammates to wake up, so that they are not eliminated as the best team in the East already in the second round.

In an interview with the media, the famous basketball player pointed out that he was not disappointed after such a defeat, aware that this could be an important lesson for them and a chance to pick up the pace in the rest of the season. Mitchell hopes that his team will change their mindset, take positive things out of this defeat, and ultimately show that they are a team that deserves the best.

"They came in here and handled business,” Mitchell said. “We would love to go 16-0, but that’s not how this works. Nothing to hang our heads about. We’ll be fine and we’ll be better."

In five games in these playoffs, Mitchell recorded 25.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, four assists and 1.4 steals.
